Social, educational, political etc importance of Cchristianity?
I have to write an essay about the Importance of Christianity. I was thinking to write about the Church's contribution to education in society (did they open schools for kids to teach them to read/write, or was this only a "lux" for those who chosed to become priests?), their influence in politics (if they decided whatever in internal-external affairs in a country), social helps (did they open hospitals? help poor families? or did they help people in any way to improve their life?) etc. I'm sure that since the Church has been proclaimed official in 313 in Rome they've influenced in many ways the society. So I would like to ask you if you know some good links to sites that contain useful information to answer the questions above. Thanks. I'll be searching meanwhile....

Wow. you've been given a vast subject to write about! you could try searching your topic on the internet, but here is a site that might help. www.catholic.com ( this is a big apologetics website, so they have a lot of question and answer stuff, as well as forums. they might have something on what you're looking for) i'm also working through a book called " Triumph, the history of the Catholic church" ( can't remeber the author's name) and it's a very detailed ( thick!) book that covers a lot of what you're looking for. It covers from Constantine's era to modern day, i'm pretty sure. anyway, hope that helps. good luck with the essay!

What does the Supreme Court think about whether or not we are a Christian nation?
In Zorach v. Clauson, 343 U.S. 306, 313, 72 S.Ct. 679, 684, 96 L.Ed. 954 (1952), we gave specific recognition to the proposition that "[w]e are a religious people whose institutions presuppose a Supreme Being." The fact that the Founding Fathers believed devotedly that there was a God and that the unalienable rights of man were rooted in Him is clearly evidenced in their writings, from the Mayflower Compact to the Constitution itself. This background is evidenced today in our public life through the continuance in our oaths of office from the Presidency to the Alderman of the final supplication, "So help me God." Likewise each House of the Congress provides through its Chaplain an opening prayer, and the sessions of this Court are declared open by the crier in a short ceremony, the final phrase of which invokes the grace of God. Again, there are such manifestations in our military forces, where those of our citizens who are under the restrictions of military service wish to engage in voluntary worship. Indeed, only last year an official survey of the country indicated that 64% of our people have church membership, Bureau of the Census, U.S. Department of Commerce, Statistical Abstract of the United States (83d ed. 1962), 48, while less than 3% profess no religion whatever. Id., at p. 46. It can be truly said, therefore, that today, as in the beginning, our national life reflects a religious people who, in the words of Madison, are "earnestly praying, as . . . in duty bound, that the Supreme Lawgiver of the Universe . . . guide them into every measure which may be worthy of his [blessing . . .]" Memorial and Remonstrance Against Religious Assessments, quoted in Everson v. Board of Education, 330 U.S. 1, 71-72, 67 S.Ct. 504, 538-539, 91 L.Ed. 711 (1947) (Appendix to dissenting opinion of Rutledge, J.) I found this on an atheist site, believe or not! Go here: http://www.atheists.org/courthouse/prayer.html Comments? Let's not be dishonest. The dodge "not the Christian God" obviously is not working here.

Intriguing. They say we're not a Christian nation, but instead recognize the USA's Deistic origins. Very interesting.

I’m sure glad I don’t have to write a paper like that, because it would be a MAJOR conflict of interests for me, seeing as I sincerely believe that Christianity has done far more damage to our society than it has ever done good. College tuition question, please help?
If you make an initial deposit/investment of $1,000 and you have ten years to save for college, how much should you be saving each month to have enough to pay for your education if you use a basic savings account? Lets say my college tuition would be about $25,313.

Please consider that college tuition has been sky rocketing daily you would need an average of 2431.30 a year or roughly $203. per month. Try adjusting for inflation I would double that. Good luck finding somewhere to get a full college education on that amount of money. Your figures are a lot out of line with the current trend. I enquired into a course the credit hour is currentlly at $375 per credit hour.
