The Death and Life of the Great American School System: How Testing and Choice Are Undermining Education
In her critically acclaimed national best seller, Diane Ravitch examines her career in education reform and repudiates positions that she once fiercely defended. Evaluating wildly popular ideas for restructuring schools, including charter schools and testing, she explains why they have had no positive impact on the quality of American education.

Please help, my cousin (10 yrs.old) has only me to turn to, and me,... well.... there's the internet I guess.... thanks. Another thing is, whenever she submits these kind of tests to her teacher and returns to her with her score, the teacher doesn't explain the correct answers to those that she got wrong. She has the asked the teacher for an answer sheet and yet, she has only received only nods and promises. (that's the kind of "free education" here)So please help.
Someone suggested I post this on "Math" category... I hope I'll receive more help this way. Thanks
7. 19n/6 = 375 19n = 375*6 = 2250 n = 2250/19 = 118.42 9. the LCM is 2, since they all can be devided by 2 & 2 is the 1st prime number 20. a:b = 3:4 --> a/b = 3/4 --> 4a = 3b a + 16 = b --> a = b - 16 3b = 4a --> 3b = 4(b-16) --> 3b = 4b - 64 --> 64 = 4b - 3b --> b = 64 25. carlo = 2/3 ador. difference = 8 = 1/3 ador ador = 3*8 = 24 26. 2/3 part = 96 --> 1 part = 96 * 3/2 = 144 side length = sqrt 144 = 12 27. 25% of 144 = 25/100 * 144 = 1/4 * 144 = 144/4 = 36 36/64 = 9/16 = 0.5625 = 56.25% 30. circumference = 2*phi*r 2*phi*(r+4) = 2*phi*r + 2*phi*4 = 2*phi*r + 8*phi the difference would be 8phi 31. the formula would be 4n + 1 4*150 + 1 = 600 + 1 = 601 32. 150/7 = 147, the remainder is 3 --> thus is will be 3 days from sunday which is wednesday. 33. 15/8 = a/10 --> 150/8 = a --> a = 18.75 34. 4:5 --> 4n * 5n = 180 --> 20n^2 = 180 --> n^2 = 9 --> n = 3 width = 4 * 3 = 12 length = 5 * 3 = 15 35. C = 180 - A - B C = 180 - 85 - 29 = 66 37. 2.5m = 25dm, 1.8m=18dm area = 25*18 = 450dm^2 amount of tiles needed = 450/1 = 450 pieces 39. amount of cube surface is 6. total surface = 6 * 10 * 10 = 600cm^2 43. (6*side)^2 = 6^2 * side^2 = 36 * side^2 thus the new one is 36 times. 44. (411/685)*100% = 0.6*100% = 60% sorry, I have to skip a few of those problems due to time. hope those help you out...

yep, I know, this doesn't look like a test for a 10 yrs. old in grade 4, but it is. She's in a competition in Math and yet somehow the questionnaires for this year got much harder compared to the ones she showed me last grade 3.
